Joao Paulo Cabral
Industrial and Interaction Designer - Design Fellow
Joao Paulo has a Bachelor degree in Industrial Design at Universidade da Regiao de Joinville in Brazil 2008 and Master of Science in Ecodesign at Politecnico di Torino in Italy 2014.
His studies are related to human-machine interaction, interaction design and ergonomics, in particular how sensorial perception can enhance user interaction.
Academically, he developed projects related to human-machine Interaction, applied in an automotive context, especially in the research, design and evaluation of new means of informing the driver through multisensory information especially the use of sound.
Another area where he has also academic experience was in the development of projects related to system design applied to environmental sustainability projects. In particular, the redesign of a dry toilet for the use of low-income communities in India, where the proposal won a special award for the application of system design.
Joao will work with IHCD in the development of the Inclusive Cities exhibit series and is project lead for the first of the series that will be mounted this summer: Inclusive Cities: Toilets.
