Originally from Queens, N.Y., Mary Gallagher is currently a third-year student at the MGH Institute of Health Professions studying to complete her doctorate degree in occupational therapy. Mary spent this past fall in New Orleans working in an outpatient neurological clinic where she worked with clients with conditions ranging from Huntington’s disease to ALS. Mary’s interests lie in creating a more inclusive world in terms of programs, policies, and infrastructure for individuals with various disabilities. Her doctorate project at IHCD is focused on the wayfinding accessibility and design of healthcare facilities in the greater Boston area. In her spare time, Mary enjoys reading, hiking, playing board games with friends, attending stand up comedy shows and concerts, traveling as much as she can, and practicing acro-yoga.
