IHCD Lunch & Learn Lecture:

Global and National Trends

Designing for Living in Place

Presented by John O'Meara & Michael Imperatore

Sponsored by HEWI and HAFELE

The mounting need for safer and more comfortable homes for multi-generational users is clearer every year. With the benefits of new technologies, materials and techniques, product designers and interior designers are answering the needs with style, shedding the stigma often associated with Universal Design solutions.
At this Fall Lunch & Learn John O'Meara, President of HEWI, will discuss how global & national movements address this challenge and provide practical tools to provide valuable advice and pleasing solutions with benefits for all users. John's presentation will give you the tools to develop and communicate your own guiding principles to the benefit of your clients.

About the Presenter:

John O'Meara is leading HEWI efforts to reach the healthcare, hospitality and residential markets with products manufactured, in Germany, to the highest standards of materials and performance; working with specifiers, architects, designers, owners and builders to select solutions that serve all users through the life of each project.
John has extensive project experience in planning, design, fabrication and installation, first as an Architectural Woodworker in metropolitan NY and national programs for banking and retail programs. Next, he joined Häfele America, leading the development of marketing and sales activity through specification. He is a frequent speaker and author of credited courses covering LED lighting, sliding systems and cabinet hardware as well as Universal Design, Accessibility and Ageing in Place topics.
