About Techshare

What is Techshare?

Techshare is a series of pan-disability assistive technology events, hosted by RNIB, which aim to develop this exciting and innovative field to support end users.

Assistive technology can be defined as any item, equipment, product or service which increases, maintains or improves functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.

Techshare conferences are supported by partners who work with us to develop and deliver the conference, providing a valuable contribution to, and steer on, the content of the event.

Please visit our History of Techshare page for further information on how Techshare has evolved.

When is the next Techshare?

Techshare 2009 will take place on 17 - 18 September 2009, with pre-conference workshops held on 16 September.

Where is Techshare 2009 taking place?

Techshare 2009 will take place at ExCeL London, which is a purpose built conference and exhibition centre located in the Docklands area of London, UK. More information about this exciting venue is on the venue information page.

What the Techshare conferences offer

The Techshare events are aimed at professionals who are interested in technology and the role it plays in learning, work and society for people with disabilities.

The format of Techshare conferences usually includes:

  • Focussed, interactive, pre-conference workshops run by invited experts.
  • Inspiring presentations by invited key speakers from leading international organisations.
  • A broad range of presentations, approved by an international content group from academia, associations, commercial organisations, multinationals, charities and the voluntary sector.
  • An exhibition showcasing innovative research, developments and products.

Who is the Techshare conference for?

Techshare has in the past been aimed at professionals supporting people with sight problems. In 2007 the scope was broadened to include more of the disability sector, rather than focussing specifically on sight problems.

Techshare 2009 builds on this and provides an event for employers, education professionals, access technology specialists, information providers, service providers and anyone working with or interested in assistive digital technology.
