Sally L. Levine is an architect whose career includes practice, education and art. Her firm Levine Architecture & Design, Ltd. approaches its work from a human-centered perspective, continuously striving to find ways to design spaces that can be used by everyone - of all ages. The studio designs a range of building types, such as dental and medical clinics, non-profit organization spaces invluding schools and churches, retail establishments and restaurants, and other commercial and residential buildings, always challenging the status quo and expressing a philosophy of inclusion. The firm designs with an understanding that people want more from their buildings than mere function; together with clients, they produce architecture that lifts one's spirits.
As a LEED Accredited Professional, BD+C, Ms. Levine matches her human-centered work with a deep commitment to sustainability and the environment. As a board member of the Cleveland Building Enclosure Council, she keeps up-to-date on the latest in building science.
Ms. Levine speaks on universal/accessible architecture at universities, at national professional conferences and to community groups. In addition, she conducts experiential workshops that aim to increase the sensibilities of her colleagues and her peers in other fields such as planning, social work and education.
Currently, Ms. Levine teaches architectural design studios at Case Western Reserve University. She has taught at the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Planning at Cleveland State University, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Massachusetts College of Art. She served concurrently as both Director of the College of Interior Design and Director of Visual Studies at the Boston Architectural College. Ms. Levine continues to produce and exhibit her artwork.
