Opportunity for Control and the Built Environment: The ELEMR Project

This document is the final report of a major section of the ELEMR Project, a longitudinal study of an institution for developmentally disabled people. ELEMR has examined a community of residents and staff as they experienced physical design and programmatic changes occurring as a function of being transferred from traditional open-ward institutional facilities to renovated institutions and community placements. This report discusses the transition from the institutional facility to a renovated one.
