Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) University is proud to unveil its pioneering Black Studies Design & Art minor program, becoming the first Canadian AICAD school to offer it.
Dr. Kathy Moscou, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Design, emphasizes its significance in amplifying Black voices and exploring underrepresented influences on design. The minor is a multidisciplinary suite of courses, comprised of courses in Black design and art practices, culture, history and critical theory to enrich exploration of decolonized futures by bringing in the voices of Black designers and artists.
Aligned with OCAD U's strategic goals, this initiative reinforces the university's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and transformative education. Approved by the Senate, the minor promises to enrich students' academic and creative journeys.
